There are delightful fishing villages such as Cabo de Palos and lively historical ports such as Mazarron and Cartegena as well unspoilt areas of stunning natural beauty unlike anywhere else on the Mediterranean coast.

The Mar Menor is a marvellous natural phenomenon and forms the largest salt water lagoon in Europe providing an ideal setting for lounging on the beach, paddling and swimming in the balmy waters, water sports. Great weather, cool breezes, calm and shallow waters make it an ideal choice for sailing enthusiasts. Opportunities for other water sports are endless, canoeing, swimming, water skiing, fly-surfing, windsurfing and every other nautical activity you can imagine. With its many beaches, beautiful sand and crystalline waters it is particularly popular with families and young children as the warm, shallow water offers safe bathing and fun for all ages.

And then there are the Outdoor Activities
The exceptional year round climate in the Murcia region make this an ideal destination for many outdoor pursuits, sports and activities. The coastal route offers the chance to visit the vast protected natural areas on foot or cycle. For the more adventurous there is the opportunity to explore the rivers by canoe or inflatable, rock climbing, trekking, paragliding and cave diving as well as deep sea diving. The Sierra de Espuna is one of Spain’s largest nature reserves, it covers a vast area of mountains covered with pine forests and fauna and is home to a vast array of indigenous wildlife, an ideal place for walking, mountain biking or simply enjoying the tranquillity.

The regional capital is easily accessible from all of the resorts in the area via the excellent road and highway system . Founded in 831 AD it has inherited over the years a rich fusion of Moorish, medieval and baroque influences that are still evident to today’s visitor.

Murcia is an extremely historical, vibrant and friendly city that prides itself in maintaining its traditions. The most important monument in the city is the fabulous cathedral which is characterised by the various architectural styles reflected during its construction (1394-1462). There are various colourful and traditional festivals (Fiestas) enjoyed through the year.

Murcia is a wonderful city to enjoy on foot due to the extensive network of pedestrianised streets that provide great shopping opportunities as well as pleasant squares in which to relax and enjoy a drink or typical tapas in one of the many cafes and restaurants or just soak up the special atmosphere.
